Lil' Romeo recently released his third album, Romeoland, and he's got four movies due out soon!
I sat down to talk to him - read what he has to say about his musical inspirations, b-ball, and his Honey co-star,
Jessica Alba!
Vicky: Hey Lil' Romeo! How's it going? Lil' Romeo: Good.
How're you?
Vicky:Good! Thanks so much for taking the time out for this interview. I just
want to start out by congratulating you on all your career successes. Lil' Romeo: Thanks.
Vicky: So your dad is Master P, and your uncle is Silkk the Shocker. How has having
family members in the rap industry influenced your career? Lil' Romeo: Well, they influenced
me a lot. My dad and my uncles used to always be in the studio at my house. Me and my cousins would see them make songs
and we wanted to do it, so we would sneak into the studio while they were away on tour. We would make songs, and the producers said we should play it for my dad. I was kind of scared, I didn't
know what to think cuz we were just joking around.
Vicky: Aside from Master P and Silkk, who're your musical inspirations? Lil' Romeo: I like Alicia Keys. She's really talented and beautiful. And Nelly is talented.
Vicky: What's playing in your stereo right now? Lil'
Romeo: My new album, Romeoland.
Vicky: What can we expect from this album? Lil' Romeo:
It's for everybody to listen to, from kids to adults to teenagers. They're songs that make you think about life.
Vicky: What's been the coolest experience in your career so far? Lil'
Romeo: Probably performing in the Bahamas. I had probably 15,000 people at my concert. It was a beautiful place,
and I went waterskiing.
Vicky: What's been the weirdest fan experience? Lil' Romeo:
I have a lot! Once when I was at Newark Mall, me, my friends, my cousin, and my bodyguard were shopping and looking
for suitcases cuz we had all these clothes. On our way out, two girls started whispering. The next thsaid, "Run!"
Vicky: What sort of image do you try to portray to your fans? Lil'
Romeo: I just always try to be me

vicky: You're also pursuing acting. What was it like to work on Honey? Lil'
Romeo: That was one of my first big films. It was a lot of fun, one of the funnest parts of my life. We shot if
for five months in Toronto. Jessica Alba was like a big sister to me. She would help me with the lines since it was my first big picture,
and one of her first big pictures too.
vicky: What's Jessica Alba like? Lil' Romeo: She's a lot
of fun. Like I said, she's like a big sister to me. She has a lot of energy.
vicky: Are you currently working on any movie projects? Lil'
Romeo: I have four movies down the line I have to do after the TV show. Me and my dad shot a movie called Uncle
P. It'll be coming out in the beginning of next year.
vicky: What's Uncle P about? Lil' Romeo: My mother gets
sick and my uncle has to come take care of us. He's a big clothing line designer and everybody knows
him, and he has to move to this small neighborhood to take care of his three nephews.
vicky: When you're not acting or making music, what do you like to do in your downtime? Lil' Romeo: I love playing basketball. I've been playing AAU since I was nine years old. My team got number three in the nation out
of 180 teams. And I was ranked in the top 50 best players in the nation.
vicky: I read that one of your goals is to be in the NBA. Lil'
Romeo: Yeah, I'm always practicing, and you will see me in the NBA soon. I still got a good chance.
vicky: Do you think you'll ever take the Lil' out of your name, and just be Romeo? Lil' Romeo: Not until I grow taller than my dad. I'm 5'9", and my dad is 6'5". But I'm still a kid so I'm enjoying it. You're
only a kid once, so the Lil' is going to be here for awhile.
vicky: So what's up next for you? Lil' Romeo: To continue
the second season of the Romeo! show. And I have a new group coming out called the Rich Boys and it's me, my cousins,
and my brother. And I have four movies coming out. One is called Mr. Angel, and another is Lil' Romeo and Lil' Juliet.
vicky: Is there anything you'd like to say to all your fans out there? Lil'
Romeo: I'd just like to tell my fans that I really love them and appreciate everything, and I have much love for them because they've
supported me and my dad all this time.
vicky: Lil' Romeo, thanks so much for taking the time out for this interview. Much
success in your future! | |
